Straight answers about stump grinding in Coeur d'Alene and the greater Spokane area

How much does it cost?

We price each stump by its width across the top, so a small stump costs less than a big one. Big surface roots or a tight spot can add a little, and we'll tell you up front. Use the quote builder or text us a photo for an exact price.

Is the quote free?

Yes. No visit fee and no obligation.

How deep do you grind?

Typically 4 to 6 inches below the surface, which is plenty for grass. Planning a garden bed or patio? Tell us and we'll go deeper.

What happens to the wood chips?

They stay in and around the hole, and they make great mulch. We don't haul them away.

Can I plant over the spot?

Yes. Rake out most of the chips and add topsoil, then seed or sod. The ground settles a little over the first year, so top it up once. For a new tree, plant a few feet to the side.

Do I need to be home?

No. As long as we can reach the stump, we'll text you when we're on the way and when we're done. Let us know about gate codes or pets.

Can you get into my backyard?

Usually, yes. Let us know if your gate is narrower than 36 inches or the yard is steep, and we'll plan around it. We keep to the firmest path to go easy on your lawn.

What about buried lines?

We call 811 before every job so the utility companies mark their lines. Private lines like sprinklers or invisible dog fences aren't marked, so please flag those for us.

Are you insured?

Yes. Stump grinding doesn't require a special license, but we carry insurance to protect you and your property.

How do I pay?

Cash or electronic payment, once the job is done.
