Selkirk Stump Grinding

Terms and Conditions

Effective October 29, 2026

These terms apply to quotes and stump grinding work by Selkirk Stump Grinding ("we," "us") and to use of this website. By asking for a quote or booking a job, you agree to them. If anything here doesn't fit your job, talk to us before we start and we'll put any changes in writing.

Quotes

  • Quotes are free. A quote is based on the information and photos you give us, mainly the number of stumps and their width at ground level.
  • If what we find on site is different, for example bigger stumps, extra stumps, large surface roots, or a steep or hard-to-reach spot, we'll tell you the new price before we start. You can decline at no charge.
  • Quotes are good for 30 days.

What's included

  • Grinding each stump to roughly 4 to 6 inches below the surface, unless we agree on a different depth.
  • Surface roots are included only if they're listed on your quote.
  • The wood chips stay on site, in and around the hole. Hauling chips away, backfilling with soil, and seeding or sod aren't included.
  • Ground over a ground-out stump settles over time as the chips break down. That's normal and isn't a defect.

Your part

  • Make sure we can reach the stump, and let us know about gates, gate codes and anything in the way.
  • Keep pets and children well away from the work area while we're grinding.
  • Tell us about, or flag, any private underground lines near the stump that the 811 utility locate service doesn't mark, such as sprinkler lines, invisible dog fences, landscape lighting, septic lines, or power or water run to a shop or outbuilding.
  • You confirm you own the property, or have the owner's permission for us to do the work, and that the stumps aren't on a neighbor's land or a disputed boundary.

Buried lines and hidden objects

  • We call 811 before every job so public utilities can mark their lines, and we grind around marked lines.
  • We aren't responsible for damage to private lines that weren't marked or pointed out to us.
  • Stumps can hide rocks, concrete, nails, wire and other metal. If we hit something that could damage the machine or make the work unsafe, we may stop grinding that stump. We'll talk with you about options, and you won't be charged for work we couldn't do.

Scheduling and weather

We'll give you a date when we send your price. Rain, snow or very wet ground can force us to reschedule so we don't damage your lawn. Need to cancel or move your job? Let us know at least 24 hours ahead. There's no fee to reschedule.

Payment

Payment is due when the job is done. We accept cash and electronic payment. If a payment is more than 30 days late, we may charge reasonable collection costs.

Insurance and responsibility

We carry insurance and take care to protect your property. Grinding throws wood chips and debris, and a grinder can leave some tire marks on soft ground. That's normal for the work. If we damage something through our own mistake, let us know within 7 days and we'll make it right. Except where the law doesn't allow it, our responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the job, and we aren't responsible for indirect losses.

Photos

We may take before-and-after photos of the work and share them without your name or street address. If you'd rather we didn't, just tell us.

This website

We work to keep the information on this site accurate, but prices, services and answers can change. Quotes and prices are confirmed only when we send them to you directly. Website content, including our logo and photos, may not be reused without permission. Photo credits are listed in the footer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho. If a job is in Washington, Washington law applies where it requires.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. The terms in effect when you book your job apply to that job. Questions? Call or text (817) 243-7977 or email selkirkstumpgrinding@gmail.com.
